School of Architecture and Art Design keeps up with the development of the times, meets the needs of society and industry, makes education open to the public, and actively explores new models of talent training. It gives full play to the educational advantages of integration of production and education, international cooperation and cross-industry learning, and cultivates high-quality applied talents with design thinking, international vision, good innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities, and development potential.

The school currently has 8 undergraduate majors and 2 junior majors, with more than 2,500 students. It has a teaching team composed of domestic and foreign industry leaders as well as young and energetic teachers with rich practical experience. On the basis of whole person education, the school focuses on establishing an innovative education platform to develop comprehensive vocational ability, setting up international training workshops, professional laboratories and multi-city and multi-site off-campus practice bases to comprehensively cultivate and enhance students learning ability, critical thinking skills, practical ability, creativity, adaptability and international communication ability so as to lay a solid foundation for the sustainable development of their future career.

Idea and Innovation:

With the rapid iterative needs of the high-quality sustainable and applied talents in society, School of Architecture and Art Design carries out comprehensive innovation and international education. Through design thinking methods, professional life planning, industry-education integration system and high-quality environment for further and overseas study, the school builds a special professional education system of “learning by doing, doing by learning,” which cultivates students with the ability to learn from an international perspective and develops their creative, innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities at the same time.

The school actively explores the reform of the design talent training model. According to the features of majors and the industrys demand for talents, four systems have been formed in design majors (Environmental Design, Animation, Clothing and Accessory Design, and Art and Craft), namely Senior student lead system + Supervisor guidance system + Enterprise introduction system + Master-apprentice inheritance system talent training model.Through the effective connection of the four systems, a gradual training process from shallow to deep, from low to high is formed, so that students will gradually make the development direction of majors clear in the process of their steady study and practice,clarify future employment goals, and enhance the enthusiasm and initiative of learning.The professional vision and skills of both teachers and students are also enhanced through master workshop projects.

The school also actively explores the reform of the training mode of architectural professionals with the combination of work and study. According to the characteristics of construction majors and the demand for talents in the industry, a talent training model of Professional associations + Discipline competitions + School-enterprise cooperation is formed in the construction majors (Architecture, Civil Engineering, Engineering Cost, Construction Engineering Management). Measures are taken to strengthen the fusion of subjects, and among the architectural majors, the school focuses on the improvement of students core professional skills, establishes professional associations, selects excellent instructors, formulates association regulations, semester activity plans and expected results, and regularly carries out professional association activities to stimulate students enthusiasm for professional learning. By actively carrying out school-level discipline competitions, organizing and training outstanding students to participate in provincial and national discipline competitions, the effect “practice with competition, promotion of teaching and learning with competition” is reached, which improves students professional skills. Through school-enterprise cooperation, the training of students professional skills is strengthened; the employment rate and the ratio of utilization of graduates speciality are also increased.

Guided by market demand,the school further clarifies the orientation of all majors.Through the investigation of social needs, in accordance with the requirements of employers, combined with the actual situation of higher education in architecture and design, based on the principle of dislocation development, focusing on practicality and application, and positioning according to the school running type of Applied Technology Type,” the school further clarifies the applied technology type, solves the key problems of who to cultivate and how to cultivate, and makes the professional positioning more in line with the requirements of the front line of the construction industry and design industry for applied technology professionals.
