Xi’an Peihua University was founded in 1928, with its Physical Education being highly valued by the university leaders. The PE major was set up in 2018. The School of Physical Education and Sports (SPES) was established based on the original Sports Center in 2020, and became a cooperative unit of Shaanxi Sports Science Society, a chairman unit of the National Sports Federation of private colleges and universities, and an excellent unit of Sunny Sports in colleges and universities in Shaanxi Province.

SPES has a PE Teaching Department, a Students PE Department, and an Integrated Administrative Office. It undertakes the teaching tasks for the PE Major and the Public PE and is also responsible for the physical fitness tests for all current students, the Sunny Sports activities, and the sports training and competitions.The school faculty team is well structured with strong teachers. There are 50 teachers, including 6 professors, 22 associate professors and 13 professional teachers and experts in this field of study, with 80% of the faculties having master’s degree and above.

SPES has excellent teaching conditions and beautiful teaching environment. It has one 400m standard track and field with a build-in football field. Its multifunctional gymnasium has two yoga training rooms, two Taekwondo training rooms, two aerobics training rooms, two sports dance training rooms, one swimming pool, fitness center, table tennis training room and Martial Arts training room respectively. There are 52 patches of outdoor ballgame fields, with many laboratories and multi-media classrooms for sports health care, sports anatomy, and sports physiology.

The SPES actively carry out and participate in international and domestic sports competitions, harvesting 55 gold medals, 67 silver medals and 91 bronze medals. One gold medal, silver medal and bronze medal were won in Chinese College Taekwondo (Competitive) Championship. One gold medal and bronze medal were garnered in National College Roller Skating Championship. Good achievements were made for many times in the Sports Dance and Fitness Social Dance Championships of College Students in Shaanxi Province. There were 5 first prizes, 5 second prizes and 4 third prizes in the 13th and 14th CSARA China’s College Students Health and Vitality Competition. Numerous medals were won in national and international martial arts competitions for many times. Hundreds of medals were reaped in provincial, national and international competitions since 2011.

The platforms for internship, hands-on practice, and employment are set up based on the intense exchanges between SPES and other universities, and the close cooperation between SPES and multiple enterprises and institutions. Basketball and fancy rope skipping, as school’s featured and popular sports, have made fruitful achievements. In recently years, the 11th "Peihua Cup" Innovative Basketball and Shooting Competition was successfully held. For super long-distance shooting, there were 3 Guinness World Records and 15 World Records. Yao Ming Foundation “Hope School Basketball Season” was held by SPES, which co-sponsored 5x5 Relay Race, the First Mini Marathon, 2019 International Women's Marathon, and China Taekwondo Open Tournament.

       SPES pays close attention to quality and has the courage to innovate in teaching, scientific research, mass sports and sports training, strives to cultivate applied sports talents to serve the economic development of the western region, and has determined a three-step development strategy. SPES in the new era will continue to deepen education and teaching reform, speed up the construction and development of physical education disciplines, and strive to raise the school's physical education work and teaching level to a new level.
